Lake-Sumter Community College, located in Leesburg, Florida, seeks a Director 
for their Nursing Program, a professional with passion, vision and enthusiasm 
ready to assist in the continuation and enhancement of its outstanding Nursing 
curriculum and program.

The Nursing Program is celebrating its twentieth year and currently has an enrollment 
of 140 students on two of three LSCC campuses, including a full-time distance learning capacity. 
The school has graduated over 650 registered nurses and has expanded each year within 
State guidelines to help the growing nursing needs of the community. 
The program has a budget of over one million dollars and is supported by the 
four local hospitals both monetarily and clinically. 
The program has 10 full-time faculty and 11 regularly scheduled part-time faculty. 
The LSCC Nursing program has developed many partnerships in addition to the local hospitals, 
with high schools, clinics, and the University of Central Florida for practicums, 
clinical placements, its LPN to RN bridge program and its RN to BSN program.

The Director, Nursing Program, is responsible for overseeing and mentoring the faculty 
and staff on two campuses, maintaining and improving the quality of instruction, establishing, 
monitoring, and maintaining compliance with academic and accreditation standards, 
preparing, maintaining and reviewing the department budget, and maintaining effective formal 
and informal working relationships with faculty, administration, staff, students and 
health care institutions in the community.

The successful candidate will bring a demonstrated success in both academic and clinical nursing, 
strong organizational and leadership skills, a vision for the cutting edge of academic nursing, 
highly effective oral and written communication skills, and a passion for engaging the 
community and its institutions with the college and its students.

Job Duties:  As a member of the Provider Focus Team (PFT), the Medical
Specialist (PFT MS) is responsible for researching, resolving, and documenting
VO medical clearances and issues requiring medical decision-making working
directly with providers and BCBSF internal resources.  The PFT MS will also
coordinate the resolution of claims requiring medical review.  This position
will provide coaching and education to the team regarding VO medical clearance
capabilities and business rules and identify network deficiencies and improper
utilization of networks by VO referring providers.  The PFT MS position will
require coordination with Medical Director, VOBU leadership, and other
resources on medical issues  and will be responsible for initiating and
maintaining continuing education required for licensing.
 
Job Requirements:  RN certification with clinical experience .  Experience in
managed healthcare and 3 to 5 years of clinical job-related experience.  Basic
medical practice or institutional experience.Extensive knowledge of CPT-4 and
ICD-9 coding, utilization management systems, customer service/public
relations skills.  Comprehensive understanding of clinical decision-making
tools such as DMERC or InterQual.  Extensive knowledge of claims process using
multiple Legacy systems (IMS, ICS, MHS) is essential.Ability to reason
logically with simple to complex written and oral communication.  Be
expressive in oral communications with clear, articulate grammatically correct
speech.  Additionally the applicant must have the ability to develop and
maintain professional relationships.Other requirements include proficiency
with personal computer applications (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, preferred).
