JOB DESCRIPTION:

MedStar Research Institute (MRI), the research arm of the
not-for-profit MedStar Health system, is actively seeking a highly motivated
and qualified Patient Care Manager to work in collaboration with the
National Institute on Aging (NIA).  MRI is providing clinical research
support for age-related clinical research conducted at various sites in
Baltimore, MD through this contract.

The incumbent will serve as the manager for all MRI staff either 
directly (clinical staff) or indirectly (administrative staff) involved 
in inpatient and outpatient activity related to performance of contract 
duties in the NIA-ASTRA unit and MRV.  The NIA has developed a
mobile research vehicle (MRV) capable of entering underserved areas.  
Research studies will require the incumbent to educate the clinical staff 
on new protocols, technical skills, orientation, staff development, resources 
and direct patient care.  Effective management of staff and stewardship 
of government resources to ensure the efficient and cost-effective operation 
of the clinical unit are essential to this position.  The ideal candidate will 
exercise appropriate clinical judgement and maintain licensure and 
credentialing consistent with Maryland State law and NIA policies.

Minimum qualifications include a Bachelors Degree in nursing 
or equivalent nursing experience such that the objectives of the position are equaled.  
CPR certification.  
Five years of management experience in a clinical setting 
or relevant management experience in a research field preferred.
